About Me
Throughout my time at USC, I have had the opportunity to experience several different areas of the sport and entertainment industry including event operations, premium services, sponsorship activation, hospitality, staffing, and leadership. My experiences outside of the classroom have been one of the most important parts of my education because they have allowed me to take concepts I learned in class and see how they actually work within sporting events and organizations.
Through these experiences, I have found that I am especially interested in the people who make sporting events and organizations possible. This interest has led me toward a career in Human Resources, specifically talent acquisition, staffing, and employee development within the sports industry. On August 31, I will begin the next step in my education through Louisiana State University Shreveport's online MBA program with a concentration in Human Resources. My ultimate dream would be to work in talent acquisition, staffing, or human resources for the Winter Olympic Games. I would also love the opportunity to build my career within an MLB, PWHL, NHL, or WNBA organization or an event venue.
One thing I have learned about myself throughout college is that I enjoy being part of the work that happens behind the scenes. Whether I am helping operate an event, communicating with staff, solving a problem for a team, or making sure employees have what they need to be successful, I enjoy seeing how my work contributes to something much larger. I consider communication, organization, empathy, adaptability, and leadership to be some of my strongest personal attributes, and my experiences have helped me understand how valuable those qualities can be in both event operations and Human Resources.
The overall message of this portfolio is that successful organizations and events are built through their people, preparation, communication, and leadership. The experiences I have had both inside and outside of the classroom have changed my understanding of what it takes to work in the sport and entertainment industry and have helped shape the career I want to pursue.
